Middlesbrough have reportedly agreed a fee for Bristol City striker Tommy Conway as Boro look to finally close what has been a long transfer saga.

With many pundits and neutrals tipping Middlesbrough to have a great season this year, they are looking to add even more quality to their squad before the looming transfer deadline.

With some fantastic signings already completed, the Boro have the solid foundations required to compete at the top of the Championship table.

Michael Carrick’s men got off to the perfect start at The Riverside last weekend, as they defeated Swansea 1-0 at home thanks to an Emmanuel Latte Lath penalty early in the first half.

With them struggling slightly in front of goal in the season opener, they are set to add another fantastic striker to their ranks in order to solve this issue quickly.

Conway to Boro?

According to Sky Sports correspondent Keith Downie, Middlesbrough have agreed to a fee in the region of £4.5 million for Bristol City striker Tommy Conway.

Conway was recently banished to the youth team with the Robins with interest in his services arising, but this deal finally gives him a new home.

The 22-year-old is set to undergo a medical with Boro in the coming days to finally end what has been a massively prolonged transfer saga.

The Scotsman has been a key part of the Bristol City team for the past two seasons, with him scoring 12 goals in the last two seasons consecutively as he established himself as one of the better strikers in the Championship at such a young age.

This could prove to be a fantastic signing for Boro, with many believing that he is a top talent for any team at this level to have in their squad.

Will Conway Start For Boro?

Middlesbrough have reportedly signed Conway to provide competition to their star striker Emmanuel Latte Lath this season.

However, they could be utilised together to create one of the most dangerous attacks in the league this season.

If Conway does have to begin as a backup in the north-east, he will certainly fight to be named number one and will provide a huge challenge for Latte Lath’s current position
