Middlesbrough Star Agrees Premier League Move

Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers has agreed a move to join Premier League side Aston Villa, as reported by Fabrizio Romano via Twitter.

The talented winger has been one of the hot topics of the transfer window, with Villa launching multiple bids to add the young star to their squad. Unai Emery’s side launched a third bid after seeing two rejected before that. That bid was also rejected, and Birmingham Live reported it could have been worth up to £15 million with add-ons included.

Aston Villa have been enjoying a successful season this campaign, at one point surprising as many spoke of the possibility of a title charge from the side. That form has dipped slightly, but they remain in the top four and compete in Europe through the Conference League. Meanwhile, Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough are hot on the heels of the playoff places in the Championship, sitting in 11th. They are three points behind Coventry City.

Rogers is a product of the academy at Manchester City and completed a move to the Riverside last summer, with Middlesbrough paying £1.5 million for the youngster. Pep Guardiola’s side will be watching closely in this transfer pursuit, with a sizeable sell-on clause inserted when they sold Rogers, meaning a chunk of the transfer fee Villa pay will be headed to the Etihad.

Middlesbrough’s star man has seen his value skyrocket this season since making that move. The 21-year-old has scored seven and registered nine assists in all competitions for Boro this campaign, which has led to the intense transfer speculation that sees him set to arrive at Villa Park.

Rogers has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season. We have seen plenty of talent linked with moves to the Premier League this window, ranging from Plymouth’s Morgan Whittaker to Sunderland’s Jack Clarke. Rogers is one of the names at the top of the list who deserve a move like this, and with what Aston Villa are building right now, there could not be a better destination than Villa Park for him.
