Millwall are working towards finalising a permanent deal for Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn.
The striker, who has scored two goals this term, is currently on loan with the South Londoners. The club has changed managers in recent weeks, with Alex Neil replacing Neil Harris.
Millwall’s Pursuit of a Permanent Deal
According to The South London Press Millwall are making moves to make Josh Coburn’s deal permanent.
Injuries have disrupted Josh’s season as he just has five Championship starts for Millwall this season.
It seems like Millwall has seen enough to attempt to make the Richmond striker’s move to the Den permanent.
The extra money from a sale will undoubtedly be valuable in the incoming transfer deals Boro is currently working on, and negotiations are expected to begin one week before Monday’s transfer deadline.
But despite the setbacks, Millwall are pushing to make the striker’s stay at The Den permanent.
Boro might not be looking to sell Coburn during this window, but there is optimism at Millwall that they should be able to strike a deal for the striker.
There is currently no idea about Boro’s valuation for the forward at this stage.
Millwall are looking to expand their offensive options in this window. The wide and number 10 positions are both areas that might be added to—as well as central midfield.
Coburn’s Journey and Future Prospects
Coburn was signed on loan from Boro during the last window. Millwall’s former coach identified the 22-year-old as a leading target in the summer.
The Lions were keen on a permanent deal for Coburn but had to settle for a loan. They are now actively pushing to make the transfer permanent.
He’s scored two goals in seven appearances, and although he is currently injured with a broken metatarsal, he is entirely in the plans of current coach Neil.
Coburn came to the limelight as an 18-year-old, scoring on his debut for the Riverside against Sheffield Wednesday. He scored 12 goals in 52 appearances for Boro, including the memorable FA Cup winner against Tottenham.
During the start of last season, Coburn was ahead of Emmanuel Latte Lath in the Boro striker pecking order. His campaign ended prematurely due to injuries. Boro has since signed Tommy Conway to bolster the forward line.
