Championship side Millwall have reportedly submitted a bid for Premier League midfielder Luke Cundle from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The news of the Lions’ bid for the 22-year-old comes just one week after it was reported by Wales Online that Swansea City, Millwall, and Bristol City were interested in signing Cundle. With Swansea said to have made contact with Wolves.
News of the bid comes from journalist Alex Crook who stated: “#MillwallFC have made a permanent offer for #Wolves midfielder Luke Cundle. Believe other championship clubs monitoring the situation.”
Luke Cundle would be a great addition to the Millwall squad
Many Lions fans have pondered the idea of Millwall signing a new midfielder to boost their creativity for a number of months now, with some fans stating that the strikers do not get sufficient service from the current midfield.
Cundle has already had three loan spells in the Championship over the last two seasons. His first of the three came in the 2022/23 season for Swansea City. During that campaign he played 34 games; he scored three goals and assisted on four occasions.
His next move was to Plymouth Argyle at the start of the 2023/24 season, where he played 27 games and tallied up five goals and six assists under Steven Schumacher before following the Argyle boss to Stoke City, which was his next loan move in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign. For Stoke, Cundle played 16 games, scoring twice and assisting twice.
Across the 23/24 campaign, he played 43 games in all competitions, scoring seven goals and grabbing eight assists—not bad for a young midfielder.
Alex Neil is a big fan of Cundle
According to Richard Cawley, Millwall’s new head coach, Alex Neil went to watch Luke Cundle for himself on Monday evening, as Wolves’ academy took on Crystal Palace’s academy in the Premier League 2 and won 1-0.
In the game, which took place at Sutton United’s VBS Community Stadium, Cundle played the full 90 minutes and must’ve done enough to impress his possible new boss, with the South London side now submitting a bid to land the midfielder on a permanent deal.
