League Two side MK Dons have agreed a deal with League One Crawley Town for their manager Scott Lindsey, following the departure of Mike Williamson to Carlisle United.
The experienced former Swindon Town boss has been heavily linked to the vacancy from an early stage in the process remaining as favourite amongst a number of pundits.
He rose to prominence after upturning the odds from being amongst the favourites for relegation to gain promotion to the third tier in his first full season at the club.
He moved to Crawley the season prior after the Red Devils agreed compensation with Swindon Town where he had been assistant to Ben Garner. He stepped up to the full time role when Charlton appointed Garner.
This season has been a mixed one to date, after winning their opening two games against Neil Critchley’s Blackpool and under Pressure Gary Monk’s Cambridge United they have failed to win in the league with three defeats and a draw leaving them 17th in the table.
Now according to Pete O’Rourke he is set to replace Williamson at MK Dons.
Lindsey Makes Pundits Look Foolish
Lindsey managed to make an entire industry look like they were ill-informed. It cannot be understated just how many people had backed Crawley to return to the National League. They had barely managed to survive relegation, then sold the majority of their stand out performers. Replacing them with largely unknown players based of a statistics based formula. Then throughout the season they were expected to fall off. But it is a testament to Lindsey’s management that not only did they maintain their form throughout the season, but also overcome a final at Wembley.
