Fleetwood Town have massively strengthened their frontline this summer as Will Davies, James Norwood and Ched Evans have arrived at the club.
This means that they currently have an abundance of attacking talent, and just two spots available in the starting XI. However, this may change over the next few days as multiple clubs are interested in one of their frontmen.
Salford City And Hibernian Make Bids For Ryan Graydon; Others Interested
As per Pete O’Rourke, Salford City and Hibernian have made bids for Ryan Graydon.
O’Rourke also reports that Lincoln City, Port Vale and Hibernian hold an interest in the striker, though they are yet to come to the negotiating table.
The 26-year-old started his career with Bohemians, making his first-team debut in 2018. After 21 appearances and one goal for the Bohs, he moved to Bray Wanderers in 2020.
In a two-year stint in the League of Ireland First Division, Graydon scored six goals and provided eight assists.
He started 2022 with Longford Town, scoring twice and making four assists, earning him a move to the League of Ireland Premier Division with Derry City.
The versatile attacker, who can play on either wing or up front, won the Irish Cup in his first six months with Derry. 2023 proved to be a productive year for Graydon with the Candystripes; he created six goals and scored a further two, prompting Fleetwood to buy him for a fee of roughly £90,000.
Unfortunately, his first season in English football did not quite go as planned. The Dublin-born man struggled for game time, largely featuring in cup competitions and off the bench, and he ended the season with just four goals in 32 games.
Last year, Graydon sprang into life for the Fishermen. After starting the season strongly, it looked like his campaign might have been about to tail off, but the appointment of Pete Wild as manager led to an upturn in his form.
After a two-week period in which he accumulated seven combined goals and assists, his season was unfortunately curtailed by injury. The attacker finished the season with a very impressive 13 goals and seven assists in 39 games.
Could This Move Happen Before The Transfer Deadline?
From a Fleetwood Town perspective, the answer to this question would surely be ‘yes’. Pete Wild’s side arguably have the best strike force in League Two as things stand due to the quality and depth that they possess.
Therefore, the Fishermen should easily be able to cope with the loss of Graydon. His departure may even allow youngster Owen Davenport to get more minutes and establish himself as a regular starter.
Salford City’s bid for the 26-year-old is peculiar given that they have just announced the signing of Nicolas Siri from Montevideo City Torque. However, Karl Robinson and co. are aware of the strength-in-depth needed to mount a title challenge in League Two.
A move to Scotland, on the other hand, would present Graydon with an opportunity to play in a higher-reputation league. It could even lead to him playing in Europe in the near future.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to whether the attacker wants to stay in familiar surroundings, where there is a higher chance that he will succeed, or test himself in a new league, which has the potential to massively raise his profile.
