MK Dons are lining up a late move for Newcastle United’s Joe White, with the Magpies happy to sanction a loan move for the midfielder.

Eddie Howe’s side have been a big talking point this summer, with the topic of Marc Guehi being the subject of multiple bids from the club. It is understood that they have now exited negotiations for the England international, but exits have not been much of a topic for the side.

After eight years at St James’ Park, midfielder Joe White has not left an impression on the first-team setup, making his debut earlier this year, but now it seems he could be on the move in another loan spell.

Newcastle happy to sanction a loan move.

According to Football Insider, the Magpies are happy to sanction a move out on loan for White in order for the midfielder to continue his first-team development. MK Dons are the club who are targeting a loan deal before the window closes, with White looking to gain experience with exposure to senior football. The midfielder would provide the League Two outfit with youthful experience, his loan spells totalling over 50 appearances across various EFL clubs.

Another loan spell would be beneficial to White’s development and the Magpies do clearly rate the midfielder, but after eight years with little breakthrough, what does the future hold for the former England youth international?

Does Joe White have a future at Newcastle United?

The big question that is glaring here after so many loan spells is does the midfielder currently have a future with Eddie Howe’s side? Having spent eight years with the club, it is hard to see the 21-year-old begin to make a breakthrough into the squad. More to the point, the young midfielder has been with the club through their transition period, and expectations have changed from the team due to the new ownership.

Midfield has become one of Newcastle’s strongest positions, with options such as Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes in their starting eleven on a weekly basis. However, squad depth is not one of the side’s strong suits, and there is always a chance that loan spells could allow White a chance to become a part of that squad in the future if he puts in some good performances.
