Norwich City are still looking to complete plenty of deals in the closing days of the transfer window, with a deal for Sheffield United’s Anis Slimane close.
However, the Canaries aren’t expected to complete a sensational loan with an option to buy deal for Real Madrid attacker, Reinier Jesus.
Norwich were linked to signing Reiner Jesus
22-year-old Real Madrid forward, Reinier Jesus, signed for Real Madrid back in the summer of 2020 in a €30 million deal from Brazilian side, Flamengo, however, the attacker has failed to break into Carlo Ancelotti’s first team.
Reinier embarked on various loans, his first being to Borussia Dortmund shortly after signing for the Spanish giants, playing in Germany for two seasons although Reinier only made twenty-seven league appearances for Dortmund in that time, contributing merely a singular goal and assist.
Both Girona and Frosinone took Reinier on loan in the following two seasons, although the young forward’s time at both sides wasn’t dissimilar to his unsuccessful spell with Borussia Dortmund.
Real Madrid have kept the 22-year-old at the club so far this summer, although Carlo Ancelotti is yet to include the former Flamengo attacker in any of his squads, with The Athletic revealing that the forward’s future in Madrid remains uncertain, with Norwich City surprisingly in talks to sign the Brazilian.
Marca confirmed the sensational reports, stating that Johannes Hoff Thorup’s side were attempting to agree a loan with an option to buy for the unwanted attacker, although there remained a gap in the two clubs’ ideal price for a buy option in the deal.
The Canaries are expected to complete a deal for Anis Slimane
Norwich City fans’ excitement over potentially signing a Real Madrid player appears to be extinguished after Samuel Seaman revealed on X that the Canaries are highly unlikely to sign the Brazilian.
The disappointment was sweetened with the news that Norwich are closing in on completing a deal for 23-year-old Sheffield United midfielder, Anis Slimane, with an initial loan deal that contains an option to buy close to being agreed according to Norwich Evening News.
Slimane, who has appeared in all three of the Blades Championship fixtures so far, was withdrawn from Sheffield United’s squad to face Barnsley in the Carabao Cup at late notice, with Chris Wilder explaining to the Sheffield Star:
“He was named in the team, we did the work yesterday and named the team today. And at half four, there was a situation where he wasn’t involved. That will come out in the wash which is obviously disappointing. I believe there’s a deal with Norwich that’s imminent, he didn’t think he was in the right frame of mind to play and so he didn’t. So that wasn’t the best of starts to our afternoon and night”.
Norwich remain in the market for a winger
Samuel Seamen also revealed in his tweet that Norwich City are working to ensure that Slimane isn’t the final deal that the Canaries complete this summer, amid rumours of 21-year-old forward, Abu Kamara, attracting Championship interest.
BBC Sport revealed that the former Portsmouth loanee had submitted a transfer request to Norwich, attracting bids from both Luton Town and Hull City, both who are believed to have offered £2.5 million for the Canaries academy graduate.
Seaman’s report confirmed that the fact that talks remain ongoing over Kamara’s exit has led Norwich to search for replacement wingers in the transfer market with the final days of the window now expected to be a busy period for the Canaries.
