Championship side Norwich City would be stupid not to consider Stockport County boss Dave Challinor as their new manager according to EFL expert Jake Quellin.

Norwich City parted company with Johannes Hoff Thorup and placed former Arsenal man Jack Wilshere in charge on a temporary basis with assistant Glen Riddersholm also leaving.

The Canaries will now look to appoint a new boss head of the 2025/26 season, with the club’s statement stating: “The club will now progress with its plans of appointing a new permanent head coach in due course.”

Norwich City Should Pursue Stockport County Boss Dave Challinor

There will be several names linked to Norwich over the next few weeks as they look to replace Johannes Hoff Thorup, with Jack Wilshere likely to be hoping to prove himself as a viable option.

However, EFL expert Jake Quellin believes they should consider League One Stockport County boss Dave Challinor if he fails to gain promotion.

“Norwich City are an ambitious club who want to push back to the Premier League, they need a manager with the expertise and experience needed to continually push at the highest level.”

“If Stockport County aren’t able to achieve promotion this year then Dave Challinor will most likely head right to the top of many Championship club’s shopping list. The club posted yesterday that in 14 seasons as a manager he has never finished lower than a play-off spot. If Norwich aren’t at least looking at him they’d be stupid.”

“If he does achieve promotion, which is still a possibility he will likely try to see what he can achieve with the club, but could still be tempted at a shot at a Premier League push”.

The tweet mentioned from Stockport County reads In 14 full seasons as a manager, across six different divisions, this man has never finished lower than a play-off spot A record like no other #StockportCounty”
