Premier League side Nottingham Forest have acted quickly by sacking Nuno Espirito Santo and appointing a new European Cup winning boss within 24 hours.
The relationship between Nuno and owner Evangelos Marinakis has been strained for some time. The notoriously firey Greek was seen confronting his manager on the pitch last season.
Meanwhile Nuno eluded to a deteriorating relationship in his press conference.
News broke late yesterday evening that he was to be relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
Nottingham Forest Act Quick to Appoint Ange Postecoglou
According to reports, Ange Postecoglou is set to be appointed as the new Forest manager, just months after winning the UEFA Europa League with Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Celtic boss was let go from Spurs despite winning their first trophy in years after finishing just above the relegation places in the Premier League. He had been linked to several top jobs across Europe since his departure, but the speed that this appointment has taken place will have shocked many.
Forest Regaining Premier League Power
There was a time when Nottingham Forest was a dominant force, they are still one of only a select group of clubs to have lifted the European Cup on more than one occasion. However, they fell from grace and found themselves stuck in the Championship for an extended period.
After returning it took time for the huge amount of signings and changes made to settle in. Then last season appeared to be a turning point. The club were once again battling towards the top end of the Premier League table and qualified for Europe (despite the controversial situation). A lot of that was down to Nuno’s management. However, the relationship behind the scenes did not seem to be plain sailing. Cracks were clear and this felt like an inevitably.
