The Spurs’ U21s captain made his senior debut two seasons ago and has impressed in the club’s youth teams.

Notts County have agreed a loan deal for Abbott

League Two side, Notts County, have agreed a season-long loan deal for promising Tottenham Hotspur Academy midfielder, George Abbott, according to Football.London’s Alasdair Gold on X.

The Magpies are set to add Abbott to their midfield following an injury last Thursday to 23-year-old midfielder, Scott Robinson, who was forced off after just twenty-five minutes in Notts County’s 4-1 thumping of Grimsby.

Abbott looks set to be County’s twelfth signing of the window, joining a clutch of other youth talents from top clubs, many of which have signed as a free agent.

Abbott lifted the PL2 title with Tottenham last season

George Abbott shone last season in what was a Tottenham U21 packed with talent, many of which who have embarked upon various loans on permanent deals with Jamie Donley in particular being a headline loan exit to Leyton Orient, immediately cementing a starting spot at the O’s.

Tottenham’s U21 enjoyed a season of unrivalled success, comfortably lifting the PL2 league phase title, only to later secure the double by clinching the newly formatted PL2 play-off phase trophy too.

Abbott was at the centre of Tottenham’s success, captaining Spurs to success at just eighteen years of age.

Although the 19-year-old midfielder tended to sit deeper in Tottenham’s midfield, being an anchor in the team to allow Spurs’ exciting attacking talent to flourish, Abbott also chipped in creatively too, setting up three goals whilst netting another three of his own.

Notts County perhaps deemed Abbott suitable for the step up to senior football after his memorable PL2 play-off final performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where the midfielder scored and assisted in the game to hand Spurs U21s the PL2 Play-off trophy.

The Magpies could well be in a race against time to register the 19-year-old midfielder for their clash away to Swindon Town on Saturday, a game in which Abbott could well make his debut, should the deal be completed in time.
