Notts County are expected to make a transfer decision regarding one of their current out on loan players and where his future post-January will lie.
The Magpies are expected to recall one of their players and subsequently send him back on loan to a League Two rival until the end of the 2024/25 campaign where he will then become a free agent.
As reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke, Notts County are expected to recall defender Kyle Cameron from his loan stint at St. Johnstone and subsequently send him on loan to fellow League Two side Barrow.
Once that loan spell comes to a conclusion, Cameron is expected to leave Meadow Lane and become a free agent.
Has Cameron made a significant impression away from Notts County?
The 27-year-old joined SPFL side St. Johnstone on loan in the summer and has made 18 appearances for the football club in all competitions whilst also captaining the side throughout the 2024/25 campaign thus far.
However, Cameron has featured in just three of the clubs last seven league matches as the club sit bottom of the Scottish Premiership, five points adrift of their closest competitors.
Cameron has averaged a match rating of 6.65 so far but his defensive statistics would suggest that he hasn’t had the spell he’d have liked, averaging 4.7 clearances, 0.7 tackles and 2.5 ball recoveries per 90 minutes thus far.
However, with St. Johnstone sat bottom of the Scottish Premiership, it isn’t entirely surprising to see his average numbers fall lower than he’d have liked thus far.
Is this a good move for Barrow?
Despite a frustrating start to the campaign, Cameron is an experienced defender at League Two level, having made over 60 appearances as well as featuring in the SPFL and National League.
His leadership qualities will likely be a welcomed addition to Barrow’s defensive line moving into the second half of the season.
The Bluebirds have won just one of their last eight matches in all competitions and have slipped down to 15th in League Two, sitting nine points off the play-off places
After a promising start to the campaign, Barrow have kept just one clean sheet in their last 16 league games and the addition of a defensive leader will be Barrow’s hope of restoring order and tightening up at the back in order to turn their form around.
