Peterborough United are plotting a fresh offer to try and secure the services of Cheltenham Town winger Ethon Archer on a permanent contract.

Posh have experienced a difficult start to the current campaign and sit 23rd in the standings after failing to take a point from any of their opening three matches.

However, things could be set to change with the news that despite several players heading out of the club – a fresh face could be on his way in.

Archer has already been the subject of a failed bid from Peterborough already this summer but now it appears as though a fresh offer is set to be made.

How did he fare last season?

In what was his breakout campaign for the Robins in League Two, Archer made a total of 51 appearances across all competitions for Cheltenham Town last season.

During that time, the winger registered seven goals and provided six additional assists including an assist on his debut against Newport County last August.

Is this a good move?

Peterborough United have lost plenty of attacking talent already this summer, including the likes of Kwame Poku and Ricky Jade-Jones.

Archer had a strong debut campaign and has already proven he’s a very good footballer at League Two level.

They also have a high success rate when it comes to developing young players, especially ones from the fourth and fifth tiers.

However, their coaching of Chris Conn-Clarke suggests that there are risks as to whether a move to the League One strugglers is one that he should make, or whether he should hold out and see if anyone else takes a punt on him.
