Peterborough United Star Emerges on Radar of Championship Club

Peterborough United have a wealth of talent currently on their radar, but ahead of the January transfer window one of their players in particular reason has emerged on the radar of a Championship club.

Darren Ferguson’s side currently find themselves 13th in League One following their 1-0 defeat against Bolton Wanderers and have now picked up just one win in their last four league matches.

However, the League One outfit could have their work cut out to try and retain one of the EFL’s brightest performing talents during the upcoming January transfer window.

Peterborough’s Poku on Blackburn’s radar

As reported by journalist Alan Nixon, Blackburn Rovers have set their sights on signing Peterborough United playmaker Kwame Poku during the upcoming January transfer window.

Poku is out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 season and is free to speak to non-English sides ahead of a summer move in January, meaning Championship clubs would still need to pay a fee to land the winger.

Blackburn and Peterborough have done business fairly recently with Sammie Szmodics, who has since moved onto Premier League side Ipswich Town.

How has he fared so far this season?

The 23-year-old has made 14 league appearances for Posh during the 2024/25 campaign thus far, scoring seven goals and providing four additional assists in the process.

Yesterday’s league outing against Bolton Wanderers was the first time since the start of October that Poku failed to provide a goal or assist for the League One side.

However, it isn’t just his goal contributions that have allowed him to catch the eye. He has also averaged 2.29 successful dribbles, 1.48 chance creations and 5.98 duel wins per 90 minutes for Posh this season, proving to be a handful for opposition defenders.

Following in Ephron’s footsteps?

Some Peterborough supporters may be feeling a case of ‘Deja vu’ once again heading into the January transfer window following Nixon’s report.

Last January, Peterborough United sold winger Ephron Mason-Clark to Coventry City on deadline day for a seven-figure fee, but could history be about to repeat itself?
