Relegation-threatened Plymouth Argyle are looking to bring in Hearts midfielder Malachi Boateng on a permanent transfer.
This comes from Chris Errington, who has reported that Miron Muslic’s side are interested in bringing in the 22-year-old as they have limited options in that area.
Muslic recently watched the defensive midfielder play when Hearts faced Cercle Brugge in the UEFA Conference League this season.
Boateng Has Been a Regular Feature For Hearts
Malachi joined Hearts from Crystal Palace’s academy in August and has been a consistent figure for the Scottish side.
Boateng has made 20 appearances in the league for Hearts, with 14 coming as starts, picking up two assists as Neil Critchley’s side look to push into the relegation round.
The 22-year-old also played all but one game in the Conference League, starting four and coming on in one as they narrowly missed out on qualification for the playoffs.
Overall, Boateng has been a regular figure for Hearts this season, playing 28 times in all competitions.
Plymouth Argyle Aiming to Continuing Strengthening Squad
Muslic’s side finds themselves at the bottom of the league and four points away from safety and are seemingly looking to add to their playing options.
The Pilgrims have already been active in this window, bringing in Nikola Katic, Tymoteusz Puchacz, Michael Baidoo and Maksym Taloverov.
It is also reported that it would be a permanent transfer for Boateng as opposed to a loan move for the 22-year-old defensive midfielder.
Plymouth Argyle currently have limited options available for use in the middle, with Adam Randell, Jordan Houghton and Darko Gyabi being their main midfield options.
Championship Relegation Battle
The Pilgrims are currently bottom of the league, but recent fixtures against Sunderland and West Brom have shown they are still fighting to survive, and strengthening their side could boost their chances.
Plymouth Argyle recently lost one of their star players in Morgan Whittaker but have re-invested that money, bringing in the likes of Taloverov and Baidoo.
With only a few players available to play in midfield, Boateng could help give more flexibility and versatility. It is a step in the right direction as the player would prove to be a useful option in that area of the pitch.
