Plymouth Argyle has unveiled the two new faces promised on deadline day, as midfielder Herbie Kane and defender Wes Harding.

Head coach Tom Cleverley teased the arrival of two new recruits before the closure of the window in comments published in the Plymouth Herald yesterday. The 35-year-old promised the Green Army that they had lined up a duo, both of whom were keen to link up with his squad.

The pair arrived on loan deals until the end of the season, from Huddersfield Town and Millwall, respectively.

A string of fine results has seen the Pilgrims begin to look up the table, a big relief after a season which began as a real struggle. Their deadline day business was done strategically in a bid to sustain their recent form and provide essential depth in crucial positions.

Plymouth Argyle Add Proven Performer

The astute loan acquisition of Harding brings to their ranks a player boasting considerable Championship experience and international pedigree.

During a campaign that has seen Argyle suffer a plethora of defensive injuries, and one where keeping the ball out of their own net has been their Achilles heel, the 29-year-old’s versatility could be a blessing at Home Park.

The Jamaican international has made over 200 appearances in English football across both the Championship and League One.

With Julio Pleguezuelo sidelined with a calf injury and Brendan Galloway forced off in Saturday’s defeat at Stockport County, Harding’s arrival could not be more perfectly timed.

Harding’s capability to consistently deliver strong performances both at centre-back and full-back establishes him as an invaluable asset to his new team.

His new boss is delighted with his acquisition, revealing that he’s a player who has been on his radar for a while, speaking to the club website.

“Wes provides not only versatility and experience to the group but real quality, having spent much of his career at the Championship level.”

“Wes is someone we have had our eye on for a while. It has been clear to everyone that we need more depth through the spine of our team.”

Herbie Kane Ready For Plymouth Argyle Challenge

Eager to reignite his season, Herbie Kane arrives at Argyle ready to put a recent groin injury behind him and make an immediate impact.

The Liverpool youth product has also made over 200 appearances in the EFL, predominantly for Barnsley and his parent club, Huddersfield.

Similar to Harding, his arrival is one of necessity to remedy Argyle’s recent injury woes, with Joe Ralls and Bradley Ibrahim currently unavailable.

The 27-year-old’s arrival promises to inject a renewed dynamism into the midfield, with his energy poised to positively influence those around him. Kane’s lively presence has the potential to inflame Argyle’s burgeoning confidence and bolster their steady ascent up the league standings.
