Plymouth Argyle are targeting a move for Bolton Wanderers striker Victor Adeboyejo as they look to raid the League One outfit.
With a new era at Argyle beginning under Wayne Rooney, some fans have indicated they are skeptical due to Rooney’s poor record in the Championship previously.
After narrowly avoiding relegation from the second tier last season by just one point, they will need to improve their squad drastically if they want to ensure they will not be battling the drop again this year.
They have made some solid additions all across the pitch so far, but are still a way off being ready for this incredibly tough battle in 2024.
The search for reinforcements is evidently continuing, and a striker could be the next addition to Rooney makes to his squad.
Adeboyejo to Argyle?
According to Football Insider, Plymouth Argyle are monitoring the situation of Bolton Wanderers striker Victor Adeboyejo as they search for a new forward.
Adeboyejo has two years left on his contract with Bolton, and after a good season last year, he certainly has his admirers.
He scored ten goals last season which saw him land as the third-highest scorer in a Bolton squad that finished as the second-highest scorers in the league last year.
The club also may need multiple attacking reinforcements if their star man Morgan Whittaker was to leave Home Park this window.
The Englishman has been linked with a big-money move to multiple clubs in both the Premier League and across Europe. Him leaving would be a massive loss to Rooney’s side at the beginning of this campaign.
Adeboyejo has played at this level before with Barnsley. He made 66 appearances for the Tykes, with over half of these games coming in the infamous 2020/21 season where they achieved a top-six finish in the Championship.
Adeboyejo could prove to be a good signing for Argyle. Although he has never truly set the world alight in the second tier, he has a point to prove at this level.
If he can reach his potential through taking the step up with Argyle he will be a great asset to have around the team in what will be one of the toughest seasons in Argyle’s history.
