Port Vale have agreed a loan deal for one last season’s promotion stars, who will play out the rest of the season, hoping to secure another promotion from League Two this season.
Jesse Debrah was impressive for Vale last season, making 41 appearances for the club as they won automatic promotion in a highly competitive race.
Most pivotally, his 95th-minute equaliser against Grimsby Town was a defining moment for the club. The point taken that day went on to be valuable, as the Staffordshire outfit secured promotion away against AFC Wimbledon five days later.
Jesse Debrah To Leave Port Vale
Joining the club from Halifax Town, he has struggled to make a full impression on the club this season, with only 13 starts made for the club, while the club is struggling at the back.
The step-up to League One has not been taken well at Vale Park this year, with the club sitting bottom of the table with only 19 goals scored, now 12 points adrift of safety.
Some performances have not really matched the results; however, it looks like the club is beginning to prepare for life in League Two, with Debrah not in Jon Brady’s plans moving forward. The central defender’s contract will expire at the end of the season, meaning this loan will likely mark the end of the 24-year-old’s time in Staffordshire.
Port Vale Agree Jesse Debrah Loan
According to reports from Pete O’Rourke, Jesse Debrah will play the rest of the campaign at League Two leaders Bromley.
The London outfit have been largely impressive through consistency this season. Being difficult to play against with an attack spearheaded by the impressive Michael Cheek.
Recently losing one of their star defenders in Deji Elerewe, who joined League One promotion hopefuls Lincoln City, the club appears to have found their replacement.
Currently six points ahead of second-place, the second half of the season will simply require consistency to ensure a place in League Two’s top three by the end of the season. And adding a recent promotion winner to the mix is a more than adequate addition for the task at hand.
As for the player, this move represents an opportunity for the future. If the defender does impress and help the club lift promotion to League One, it is likely that the player would join Andy Woodman’s side on a permanent basis, giving the defender a chance to stay in League One and have a second chance at England’s third tier.
