Liverpool’s Harvey Blair has been given the green light for a move on loan in January, as reported by Football Insider.
The 20-year-old winger was the subject of interest for League One sides Portsmouth and Reading in the summer transfer window. With interest emerging from the third tier, as well as Denmark and Belgium, Blair has been given the go-ahead to move on loan in the winter transfer window.
Blair made his senior debut at 18 for the Premier League outfit in their Carabao Cup victory over Preston North End. The winger was called up to train with the first team in pre-season. However, an injury derailed his progress and halted loan interest, which also came from Scottish side Aberdeen. After five months on the sidelines, he is now ready to get playing time, and the Reds are willing for him to go on loan.
Playing with the under-21 side last season, Blair turned out on both sides out wide for Liverpool, scoring five goals and registering a solitary assist in 18 appearances. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are top of the table currently and face rivals Manchester United next in the league.
John Mousinho’s Portsmouth are currently flying high at the top of League One and are the runaway leaders. They solidified that with a 2-0 victory over fellow promotion hopefuls Bolton Wanderers on Monday night. It is unclear whether or not he is a target for Pompey right now, but the side did miss out on a loan move for the winger in the summer.

Blair is a highly-rated player at Anfield, and Jurgen Klopp’s team has a track record of nurturing young talent. Players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold had similar pathways into the first team on Merseyside, and a loan move would only help push the winger towards achieving that. The questions surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future would only set his eyes on that spot in the starting lineup.
