Premier League And Championship Clubs Interested In Former Fleetwood Town Loanee

Premier League side AFC Bournemouth, Championship side Stoke City and Austrian giants RB Salzburg are among a number of clubs looking at Celtic player and former Fleetwood Town loanee Bosun Lawal.

The 21-year old enjoyed a breakthrough season in 23/24, with the Ireland U21 international appearing in but four league games last season and according to Football Insider AFC Bournemouth, Stoke City and RB Salzburg are three of the numerous clubs rumoured to be taking an interest.

Who is Bosun Lawal?

Bosun is comfortable at playing both at centre back and central midfield with him playing 23 times in midfield as well as 24 times at centre back.

He came through the youth ranks first at St Kevins Boys in the Republic of Ireland, before moving to the UK with Watford’s U18 squad. After two years with the U18 squad at Watford, he made the move North of the Border to Celtic joining up with their B team who play in the Scottish Lowland League. He has played 17 times in the league scoring four goals.

For the 23/25 season, he moved to then League One side Fleetwood Town on a season long loan appearing in 42 games in the league scoring six goals and assisting twice.

How did he perform last season with Fleetwood?

Last season he started 40 games coming off the bench on two occasions. The versatile player was somewhat of a shining light in a disappointing season for The Cod’s which ended in relegation, winning 6.5 duels per 90, winning 61.5% of duels per 90 ranking him in the 93% percentile.

As well as this he is extremely strong in the air, winning 2.87 aerial duels per 90 ranking him in the 92% percentile winning 73.9% of these putting him in the 96% percentile.

Would Celtic be willing to sell?

The youngster has proven himself now at League One level, and there has been numerous rumours of interested clubs throughout the summer. It is widely expected that the Irishman will leave Celtic Park this summer.

A move to a Championship club would be a logical move in his development as he progresses up the pyramid, however RB Salzburg have a great track record of developing younger players and selling them on such as Benjamin Sesko and Erling Haaland.

It remains to be seen whether Celtic would allow him to leave on a permanent basis even with the strength in depth they currently have.
