Premier League & Championship Scramble for Exeter City Man

Premier League sides, West Ham United, Southampton and Championship Norwich City are all keeping a close eye on Exeter City ace Ed James as he enjoys a successful spell at National League Yeovil Town.

The 19-year-old is embarking on his fourth loan spell away from the Grecians which have all come in the non-league pyramid to date including Weymouth, Weston Super Mare Dorchester and now Yeovil.

His potential has alerted West Ham United, Southampton and Norwich City who are all interested in signing him following his loan spell which is due to end in January, according to Football Insider.

However, with Southampton having recently changed manager and West Ham United repeatedly linked with replacements for Julen Lopetegui it is unknown whether their January transfer plans will change.

That being said, it is unlikely that James would come straight into the first team and would more likely take his place in the academy set up or even head back out on loan to continue his development in the senior game.

How has Exeter City’s Season Gone So Far?

Exeter have had a reasonable season so far, despite their drop in form, which is reflective with their mid table 15th place position. Over the last 10 games they sit 23rd in the form table, with two wins two draws and six defeats with a minus eight goal difference. Fortunately, their start to the season picked up 16 points in their first nine games. They will be hoping to turn around their form as they continue into the busy Christmas period and rectify a few of those issues in the January window.

Next up are three winnable games, Burton Albion, Bristol Rovers and Crawley Town who all occupy the bottom five places. Even winning two of the three would put them in a much better position heading into the transfer window when they can bring in some fresh recruits to bolster their League One campaign.
