Reading are hoping to beat fellow League One side Port Vale to the signing of Devante Cole. He would move from Championship side West Brom this summer.

Cole, the son of Manchester United great Andy Cole has just one year left to run on his contract. He has previously been on the books of Barnsley, Motherwell, Doncaster Rovers, Wigan Athletic, Burton Albion, Bradford City, MK Dons, Fleetwood Town as well as Manchester City.

However, after just one season at The Hawthorns he looks set to return to League One.

Reading Hope to Win Race for Devante Cole Ahead of Port Vale

Reading are keen to add Devante Cole to their squad this summer, with the club lacking forward options heading into the season. However, it is currently expected that Port Vale will win the race for the 30-year-old.

Cole has had previous experience with manager Darren Moore, having played nine games for him at Doncaster Rovers in 2019/20.

Some reports are even suggesting that the player could be on route to Vale Park to complete his move over the next few days.

Reading’s Big Summer

Having had its future secured from near extinction Reading are in the process of rebuilding the club under Noel Hunt. They may still lose Harvey Knibbs to Charlton Athletic but they are looking stronger than they have in previous seasons.

They pulled off a transfer coup by adding Lincoln City captain Paudie O’Connor to their ranks.

It will be a big season for the club, who will be hoping for a big improvement on last season. With caring decision makers at the helm it is now time for the club’s supports to finally get to enjoy football again.
