Rochdale have failed to pay their players and staff their full wages for November, amongst ongoing takeover reports, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke from Football Insider.

The National League side have been on the search for investment opportunities from local businesses and now it seems that the ongoing situation has worsened with the players and staff now affected.

Rochdale suffered relegation out of the football league last season for the first time in over 100 years and have had a frustrating start to the campaign in the National League.

However, the club beat Dagenham & Redbridge 2-1 at the weekend to make it three league wins on the bounce for the football club and sit just outside of the play-off places as we approach the halfway stage of the football season.

Unfortunately, despite full wages due to be paid in November, players and staff have only received 25% of their earned amounts leaving the club at risk of a potential penalty, which could result in a points deduction.

According to Pete O’Rourke, the reasoning behind the decision is based on ongoing takeover talk between both the club and potential investors and/or buyers, but regardless, the news that wages haven’t been paid is a concern for the National League side.

The football club are yet to publish an official response to the allegations about the lack of payment of wages as well as the takeover talk but today’s update is a serious concern for the supporters of the National League side.

Writer’s View

Rochdale have been publicly looking for investors or financial backing to cope with playing outside of the football league but today’s update is a concern for the supporters.

If wages aren’t paid in full, it runs the risk of Rochdale potentially facing more issues such as a points deduction which would harm their aspirations of returning to the football league this season.
