Despite enduring a difficult season so far, AS Roma put in arguably their best performance of the 2024/25 campaign on Sunday as Claudio Ranieri’s side cruised to an impressive 5-0 victory over Parma.

Goals from Paulo Dybala, Alexis Saelemaekers, Leandro Paredes and Artem Dovbyk sent the Giallorossi on their way to victory, and the result sees them move five points clear of the relegation zone and climb to 11th place in the table.

Roma, to a man, were fantastic however, there was one man who stood out above all: Paulo Dybala.

The Argentinian opened the scoring after eight minutes, converting a penalty that he won following some nice linkup play with Artem Dovbyk.

He then scored Roma’s third goal, doubling his tally by finishing from close range. The Roma forward was not done there, however, and rather than go for the hattrick, Dybala unselfishly passed to Dovbyk to tap home Roma’s fifth of the afternoon.

Dybala’s performance proved he still has the quality to be one of Serie A’s best players and has rightfully earned him a lot of praise from fans and pundits alike.

However, the former Juventus man has been in the news recently due to rumours linking him away from the Giallorsossi. So, what is the current situation surrounding La Joya’s future?

Dybala’s current situation

Dybala, who signed for Roma in 2022, is nearing the end of his contract, and with Turkish giants Galatasaray reportedly offering around €10 million a year, there has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding his future.

However, following today’s win, both Dybala and Ranieri spoke about the situation, with the former reassuring fans that he remains fully committed despite persistent rumours.

These people from the first day at Colosseo Quadrato have always given me their warmth. And I always give my all for the shirt, for them, the fans.” – Paulo Dybala after Roma’s 5-0 victory over Parma

Claudio Ranieri’s comments will also surely be reassuring to Roma fans, as the 73-year-old has claimed that the club have yet to receive any offers for Dybala and that the forward “wants to stay and is happy with us.

Dybala currently has an automatic renewal clause in his contract, and this shall be activated should he make just six more appearances this season.

Roma fans will surely hope that La Joya will still be a Roma player next season, as when he is in form, like today, he can still hit the levels he showed at Juventus.

Roma travel to San Siro next as they take on Milan in a big Serie A clash, where they will hope for a repeat of today’s performance.
