Rotherham United Face Disappointment Ahead of Deadline Day

Rotherham United target Sydie Peck is set to stay with Sheffield United for the remainder of the campaign after an impressive start to the season. Featuring more so far this season, than most might have anticipated.

The 19-year-old has started both Carabao Cup games for the Blades so far, particularly impressing in the first-round tie against Wrexham in a player of the match performance. as well as playing the full 90 in a Yorkshire derby loss away at Barnsley on Tuesday night.

Having already made two appearances in the Championship this campaign it’s expected to be a breakout year for the starlet, especially given the interest in fellow midfielders Gustavo Hamer, who has been subject to a rejected bid from Leeds United, and Vinicius Souza who is reportedly of interest to Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe.

The former Arsenal youth midfielder had been a clear target for Steve Evans side, but it looks as though the Millers will now be forced to look towards other targets.

When speaking to the Rotherham Advertiser regarding interest in Peck, Evans said: “My understanding is that he’s going to stay at Sheffield United. We have to respect that.”

Evans inferred there were alternatives stating: “Chris Wilder has intimated that he’s going to keep him (Peck). We have other players that we like.”

Wilder fielded youth injected XIs for both cup games this season, with Peck playing alongside fellow youngsters Owen Hampson, Louie Marsh and Sai Sachdev in Tuesday evenings defeat at Oakwell.

A move to the New York stadium wouldn’t have been his first loan move from the Blades as he made 11 appearances for Oldham Athletic in the 2022/23 season.
