Rotherham United manager Lee Clark will be without one of his players as he tries to keep the Millers in League One.
Clark has the near-impossible job of keeping the South Yorkshire side in the division after taking over from Matt Hamshaw.
The Millers are nine points off safety, with two games in hand, but are without a win in five games and two defeats in a row.
Clark’s task hasn’t been made any easier ahead of their final eight games, as senior goalkeeper Cameron Dawson is now injured.
Rotherham United’s Cameron Dawson Injured
The Rotherham Advertiser has shared that the former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper has picked up a shoulder injury that will keep him out of the squad. Although they haven’t gone as far as confirming how long he will be out for.
The injury means that Clark only has one senior goalkeeper available for selection, Ted Cann.
Dawson Forced to Play Backup
The 30-year-old was the first choice for Rotherham United for the majority of the season.
However, an error against Doncaster Rovers led to him being dropped in favour of Cann. That decision meant that Dawson had been on the bench for the last seven games before picking up this injury.
Dawson has played 31 games for the Millers in League One this campaign. Despite several disappointing games, he has received an average Sofascore rating of 6.9, which is currently the second highest in the Rotherham squad.
In his league games this season, Dawson has conceded 1.5 goals per game, while averaging three saves per game. In total, he has made 93 saves in the league for a Rotherham side that looks set for the drop.
The game that saw Dawson dropped from the side against Doncaster Rovers was certainly not one of his best. He received a 5.9 rating and made a big error that led to a goal.
Despite waiting for his chance back in goal, his latest injury could mean he misses the chance this campaign at the very least.
