Salford City Planning Another Six-Figure Bid for League Two Man

League Two side Salford City already know one of their transfer targets for the January window after they had a substantial six-figure bid rejected on deadline day.

Salford City have had a promising start to their League Two campaign. Four wins and one draw in seven games puts them 8th in the league, two points behind leaders Gillingham.

This positive start comes on the back of a busy summer, both off and on the field, for the club. A consortium led by David Beckham and Gary Neville took over the club in May, and a busy transfer window followed.

The Ammies signed 14 new players. A mixture of experienced professionals, such as Mark Howard and Kadeem Harris, joined the club, along with players still making a name for themselves, such as Jay Bird and Loick Ayina.

They did miss out on Fleetwood Town attacker Ryan Graydon on deadline day, but are ready to go back in for him in January.

Salford City to Bid Again for Ryan Graydon

Alan Nixon on his Patreon shared that Salford City will be making a move for Fleetwood Town’s Graydon in the January window.

Salford were prepared to pay around £300,000 for the forward on deadline day, but their offer was turned down by Fleetwood.

Nixon went on to say that Fleetwood are reluctant to sell Graydon because they feel they can make an attempt to get promoted this season. However, Salford City will try to test that again in January.

Graydon Impressed in League Two

Last season, Graydon impressed as Fleetwood limped to a 14th-place finish. The forward finished the season with the most goal contributions in the league for the Cod Army. His tally of 16, nine goals and seven assists, was five more than midfielder Phoenix Patterson in second.

The attacker finished the season with an average Sofascore rating of 7.06, the fourth highest at the club.

Graydon was an attacking threat throughout the season for Fleetwood Town. He finished the season with 1.9 shots and 0.5 shots on target per game.

The Irish forward also recorded six big chances created and ended the campaign with 0.8 key passes per game.

Could Graydon Be the Difference for Salford City?

Salford City narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season, finishing one point behind Chesterfield in 7th.

Goals weren’t an issue for the club last season, with Cole Stockton scoring 16 and Hakeeb Adelakun scoring 13. But adding a player of Graydon’s quality at this level seems like a smart move.

Graydon showed last season for Fleetwood that he can be a threat to defences in League Two, not just in front of goal but creatively.

With the Ammies trying to get back into the play-offs for the first time since the 2022/23 season, Graydon could be a player who tips the odds in their favour.
