Scunthorpe United have added two more new faces to their squad ahead of the upcoming National League North season.
First, they signed Brad Nicholson on a permanent deal after he left promotion winners Boston United at the end of their successful campaign.
News swiftly followed that midfielder Joe Rowley had seal a move to the Iron after a successful trail period with the club.
Brad Nicholson Joins Scunthorpe United:
The left-sided defender, who spent last season at left-back for Boston, has switched South Lincolnshire for North Lincolnshire.
The 25-year-old has amassed a glut of non-league experience during his career to date. After starting out at Sheffield FC and Handsworth Town, he secured a move to Chesterfield on a short-term contract.
Later, he moved to Guiseley, where he caught the eye of Boston United. The Pilgrims snapped him up in the summer of 2022.
Scunthorpe United have confirmed that Nicholson will wear the number two during the 2024/25 campaign, in their announcement of the signing.
Joe Rowley Impressed in Trail Stint:
Summer signing number six quickly followed the fifth addition for the Iron, as Sheffield-born midfielder Joe Rowley sealed a move to the club.
He impressed in a two game trail period in Scunthorpe, and has now found a new home after leaving National League side AFC Fylde at the end of last season.
The 25-year-old made over 100 appearances for Chesterfield, including in the EFL, after coming through the club’s academy.
Rowley, who is also a former King’s Lynn Town loanee and England C international, will take the number 11 shirt for the upcoming term.
Are Scunthorpe Heading to the National League? – Opinion
The signals have been very positive for Scunthorpe United this summer. After missing out so narrowly last season, there is no doubt that they have their eyes set on securing promotion this time around.
Their summer business, under new manager Andy Butler, has been impressive, and will surely stand them in good stead for a hearty promotion push once again.
