Changes at the Top for Scunthorpe United:

A club statement, posted on June 4, 2024, said: “Chairperson Michelle Harness has allocated shares to Roj Rahman, George Aitkenhead and Ian Sharp”.

It means that the four directors now hold equal joint ownership of United. Harness explained the decision in the announcement, saying that it provided a safeguard to the business and allows for additional support should the club need it.

Scunthorpe businesswoman Harness completed a takeover of her local club in October of 2023 after previous owner David Hilton withdrew all funding from the Iron.

Harness originally took 92% of the club’s shares. In the club statement, she added that Raham, Aitkenhead and Sharp had stood beside her since the takeover.

Good News for the Iron on Both Fronts – Opinion:

Scunthorpe United are coming out of some incredibly dark days, now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Michelle Harness’ takeover helped secure the club would not fall, or potentially cease to exist, while the most recent announcement provides further reassurance of that. It also allows the club to grow ahead of any shot at promotion into the National League.

The re-signing of Tyler Denton furthers that goal, sealing the return of an important piece of last season’s squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
