Bradford City have turned down a second bid for striker Jake Young following his return to the club from Swindon Town, according to the Telegraph & Argus.
The returning loanee missed today’s fixture against Colchester United due to injury, meaning a potential sale could still be on the cards. Players are only allowed to play for two clubs in a season, had he played for Bradford City today then it would mean a departure is ruled out (other than a return to Swindon Town).
Manager Graham Alexander confirmed that there had been a second bid tabled for the player, which had ultimately been turned down. Exeter City, Port Vale and Carlisle United of League One have all been heavily linked with the player since his recall. The Bantams’ boss also brushed away suggestions that he had missed the game to facilitate a potential move away.
Speaking after the game to the Telegraph and Argus, Alexander said;
“There’s been another bid that’s been turned down,”
“If he was fit enough, he’d be in our squad. When he says he’s comfortable enough and declares himself fit, then he’ll be with the rest of the players available for selection.”
The Cowley brothers put a halt to any plans to turn around the poor Bradford City form as a goal from Tom Hopper equaled out an Andy Cook strike to share the points. The result leaves them sitting 14th, seven points off the play off positions, having played two games more than 7th place MK Dons.

Until Jake Young steps on the pitch wearing claret and amber, this saga will continue. Goalscorers are few and far between, and if there is an opportunity to poach one of the league below’s top scorers, League One clubs would be stupid to pass up the chance.
