Sheffield United Have Bid Accepted For Premier League Striker

Sheffield United

Championship side Sheffield United have reportedly had a bid accepted for Leicester City striker Tom Cannon.

According to fellow journalist Alan Nixon, the accepted Blades bid was worth £13 million, including bonuses, and they are expected to enter talks with the 22-year-old immediately.

How has Cannon fared so far this season?

Tom Cannon spent the first half of this season on loan at Stoke City, playing in 22 games for the Potters, hitting the back of the net on 9 occasions, and setting up a goal for Lewis Koumas against Bristol City in October.

How will Cannon be a benefit to Sheffield United?

Tom Cannon’s imminent arrival at Bramall Lane will be a welcome one for Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United side.

The Blades’ form has recently dipped, getting only one win in their last five games, and they were dumped out of the FA Cup in the third round by Cardiff City.

Sheffield United also has an ever-growing injury list, which includes the likes of Jesuran Rak-Sakyi, Tyrese Campbell, Ollie Arblaster, and Gustavo Hamer.

Kieffer Moore has also missed the last two games and, according to The Star, will need to have an operation on a hernia but that will be delayed until Sheffield United can sign some attacking reinforcements.

Cannon is a young, dynamic forward who brings energy and movement to any side’s attack.

His pace and work rate can stretch defences, create space for teammates, and provide Sheffield United with more attacking outlets. His runs behind opposition defences could help exploit gaps, offering a different style of attacking play to Chris Wilder’s arsenal.

Tom Cannon’s development is also a good chance for a future sell-on.

It’s worth noting that Tom Cannon is still only 22 years old, so his development is vital for his future career.

Playing for a team like Sheffield United, who are fighting for Premier League promotion, will place Cannon under pressure to deliver strong performances.

If he handles this pressure well and becomes a key player in their attack, it will likely increase his reputation and value in the transfer market.

If Sheffield United does end up getting promoted to the Premier League, and Cannon can produce good performances thereafter, then more and more world-class clubs will be keeping a close eye on Cannon, and Sheffield United could end up getting a great amount of profit in the future.
