Former Charlton Atheltic loanee, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, was believed to be set for a season-long switch to Sheffield United although an issue has occurred which has delayed the deal.
Crystal Palace are happy to loan the winger following the signings of Ismailia Sarr and Daichi Kamada this summer.
Crystal Palace only handed Rak-Sakyi eight outings last season
Promising 21-year-old winger, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, failed to become a regular first team member last season despite a successful loan the season prior.
Crystal Palace endured a turbulent majority of the season last campaign, even hovering above the relegation zone until the appointment of Oliver Glasner, leaving little room for experimentation.
Rak-Sakyi suffered a hamstring injury in February in a Premier League Cup game which kept him out for a large period of the second half of the season, a hammer blow to the winger after a separate hamstring issue sidelined him for the seasons opening months. (BBC Sport)
There’s been a delay in announcing Rak-Sakyi’s loan to Sheffield United
Despite reports that a deal for Rak-Sakyi to be loaned to Sheffield United for the upcoming season was as good as done, there is still yet to be an official announcement.
The Crystal Palace winger was in attendance for the Blades EFL Cup victory over Wrexham, but the player’s side of the deal is holding up the deal’s completion, as per Alan Nixon (paywall).
Sheffield United are believed to have completed the paperwork on their side of the deal but an issue Rak-Sakyi’s agent fee has held up the player signing off the deal.
The issue is however believed to be resolved soon with the clock ticking for Rak-Sakyi to be eligible to make his Blades debut on the weekend with the registration cut-off being Friday at midday.
Sheffield United have fended off interest to agree a deal for Rak-Sakyi
Leeds United were one of the club’s most keen on signing Rak-Sakyi according to Alan Nixon.
However, a move to Elland Road would have been a permanent one with Crystal Palace’s preference to only loan the forward ending any chances of a deal.
Watford, Luton, QPR and Rak-Sakyi’s former loan club, Charlton Atheltic, were all sniffing around the forward this summer but have since been beaten to the 21-year-old’s signature.
Charlton’s interest was ambitious but the Addicks did help carve the forwards name out in English football back in 2022/23 when Rak-Sakyi shone in League One, recording 23 goals and assists across the league season.
