Sheffield Wednesday are eyeing a move for Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis, with a striker on Danny Rohl’s wish list.
With the Owls looking to close the gap between themselves and the play-offs, Sheffield Wednesday are looking to add more goals to their squad.
Dennis, who’s currently on the books of Champions League chasing Forest, is said to be one of the strikers Rohl is interested in adding to his side.
Sheffield Wednesday Might Move for Dennis
Alex Miller of The Star reported that Sheffield Wednesday are looking at potentially bringing Nigerian striker Dennis to Hillsborough before the window closes. The deal would likely be a loan deal for the striker.
The 27-year-old striker has a wealth of experience in England and abroad. Although Miller explained, any deal for Dennis would be tricky for the Owls, and Dennis isn’t short of suitors.
How Has Dennis Played in Recent Seasons?
Dennis spent the back end of last season on loan in the Championship with Watford. The move wasn’t the most fruitful for Dennis, as he scored just four goals in 17 games. From that short spell, he received a Sofascore average rating of 6.78.
In the 2021/22 season, Dennis featured 33 times for Forest, starting 30 times in the Premier League. He managed to reach double figures in the league, scoring 10 goals, as well as grabbing six assists for the club.
This season, he’s yet to feature for Nottingham Forest, leading to suggestions he might depart the club on loan once again.
Is Dennis What the Owls Need? – Opinion
Sheffield Wednesday have impressed this season, going from a team that stayed up on the final day of last season, to a team competing for the play-offs. But it’s no secret that they could do with more firepower.
The Owls signed Ike Ugbo after impressing on loan in the second half of the season. However, he’s struggled to make the same impact this season. He’s failed to score in the league in 26 games, scoring just one goal in the EFL Cup.
Josh Windass leads the Owls in terms of goals with 10, followed by Michael Smith with five and Barry Bannan with four goals.
If Rohl can get the best out of Dennis, as he did with Ugbo at the same time last season, he could help fire the Owls into the play-offs.
One hurdle will be the wages for the Owls. They have had a questionable few years with finances, which might restrict the contribution they can give Forest to his wages.
