Shrewsbury Town are set to receive a boost in their pursuit of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Nathan Fraser, with news that he is set to be given the green light to go out on loan.

The 18-year-old made his Premier League debut during the 2023/24 campaign for Wolves but looks destined to spend the upcoming campaign out on loan in order to access regular first-team minutes.

League One side Shrewsbury have already landed one striker this summer but appears to have their eyes firmly set on the forward ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

How did Fraser fair last season?

Fraser began the 2023/24 season featuring in the Premier League 2 with Wolves, scoring twice in his first three games, before providing a goal and assist for the first team during a 5-0 victory against Blackpool in the EFL Cup.

The impressive nature of his performances continued to impress the first-team squad and eventually made his first Premier League appearance of the season in February during a match against Manchester United.

In total, the forward made 18 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring six goals and providing an additional assist, averaging one contribution per three matches.

Would a move to Shrewsbury be beneficial for Fraser?

Shrewsbury Town have already secured the services of George Lloyd from Cheltenham Town but it seems as though they aren’t finished when it comes to improving their attacking qualities ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

According to the Shropshire Star, Fraser was spotted at a Shrewsbury Town match back in January but a move didn’t materialise at that moment in time, but this does mean he would have a familiarity with the style of play that he saw.

This could give him the ability to settle in quicker, coinciding with the fact that he wouldn’t need to relocate to another part of the country.
