Steve Evans is reportedly keen on luring current interim Stevenage boss Alex Revell to follow him to the New York Stadium with new club Rotherham United, according to reports.

Evans linked back up with his former club last week, taking charge of their 0-0 draw with Birmingham City. The former Leeds United boss will likely be assessing his playing and backroom staff ahead of the summer transfer window and the club’s return to League One.

The new boss was asked by the Rotherham Advertiser if he would consider bringing the former Millers man with him to the club;

“Since I’ve left, I haven’t spoken to Alex. When you leave a club, you must have the integrity to not communicate back to your old players and staff because they can get mixed messages. Would I see Alex Revell back on my staff at some time? If we had a position available and Alex was fancying it, absolutely.”

Stevenage Set To Lose Another Figure?

Evans was coy about his interest, keen to be respectful to his former club who he celebrated a huge amount of success with. However, the two clubs are likely to be competing in a similar market for players and staff. Revell has a connection with both Steve and Rotherham United and it could be seen as a masterstroke for the relegated club to bring him in alongside their new manager. It is likely that the decision could rest on who Stevenage replace Steve Evans with and whether Revell himself could even be in a chance of the top job.

The chance to become the first team manager in League One could be too good an opportunity to turn down. However, there is constant speculation on potential candidates with former Wycombe Wanderers man Gareth Ainsworth seemingly gaining traction in certain areas of the fanbase.

There is also likely to be the temptation that Rotherham come calling for a player or two from his former club.
