Stoke City are working towards a potential deal to bring back midfielder Luke Cundle after a successful loan spell last season.
A positive start to the transfer window has left Stoke fans optimistic ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
They have added some solid pieces to the side so far, especially by bringing in experienced Championship players such as Sam Gallagher and Viktor Johansson.
However, the most exciting part of their transfer window so far is that they have managed to keep hold of key players such as Joon-Ho Bae and Wouter Burger despite heavy transfer interest from some massive clubs.
They are looking to continue the improvement of their squad as they target a familiar face in midfield.
Cundle Return on the Cards?
According to Fraizer Flecther, Stoke City are eyeing up a potential move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Luke Cundle after his successful loan spell with the Potters last season.
Cundle has had multiple loan spells in the Championship in the last two seasons that have all proven to be successful for the youngster.
His first loan spell came with Swansea City where he spent the entire 2022/23 campaign. He made 34 appearances in South Wales scoring on three occasions and assisting on four in what was a very successful first full season in professional football.
With him proving his capabilities in the Championship with the Swans, it earned him another move in the league, this time to Plymouth Argyle.
His performances got even better in the first half of the season with Argyle, this gained him even more admirers which meant his loan deal was cut short by Wolves so he was allowed to join the Potters for the second half of the campaign.
How did he fare last season?
He made 16 appearances for Stoke in the second half of the campaign and showed his quality to the Stoke faithful, so much so that he has potentially earned himself a move back to the Bet365 Stadium.
Another loan move may suit Wolves best as they want Cundle to continue his development to potentially be first-team-ready next season. However, Stoke will be looking to permanently secure his signature to properly embed him into their side.
Either way, the 22-year-old is a fantastic asset for any club in this division. If the Potters are able to bring him back to the club, it will certainly prove to be another great signing.
