Sunderland have genuine interest in signing Macaulay Langstaff, with Middlesborough, Derby County, and Peterborough also chasing his signature, report the Sunderland Echo.
Langstaff has had a flying start to this campaign, racking up an incredible 20 goals and five assists in 27 matches for newly promoted side Notts County. Last season, in the National League, he scored 42 goals in 47 games, which is simply incredible.
Sunderland requires a goalscorer, and Langstaff is thought to be high on newly appointed Michael Beale’s priority list.
Notts County would have reportedly set their asking price at £1.5 Million, with Gateshead FC receiving 10% of the final sale figure.

Sunderland sit in seventh place, and only five goals shy of the prestigious playoff spots. Langstaff could prove to be a brilliant signing for the Black Cats and could add some much-needed flair to their front-line
Middlesborough are currently tenth in the Championship. Sitting only one point from the playoffs, anything could happen. It shows how tight the playoff race will be come the end of the season!
Derby County are third in League One and looks like a real contender to go up at the end of the season. Winning four out of their last five league games, they look comfortable every time they play, no matter the opponent.
Peterborough are second in League One and comfortably looks like one of if not the best team in the league. Scoring a whopping 52 goals this season, The Posh look to be well on their way to the Championship

I think that a move to Sunderland could be massive for a player like Langstaff, his desire and motivation are something to be inspired by, and potentially a chance to play in the Premier League, results dependant.
However, a move to a club like Peterborough could also be beneficial, allowing him to find his feet under slightly less pressure. Most of the teams in this list are currently charging towards promotion, so he has a tough decision on his hands!
