Sunderland are interested in signing AFC Wimbledon star Ali Al Hamadi, after sending scouts to watch the youngster in action, according to Sunderland Nation via The Sunderland Echo.
The Black Cats are reportedly interested in signing the 21-year-old forward but could face competition from fellow EFL sides such as; Barnsley, Peterborough United and Coventry City who were linked to the player in the summer. Al-Hamadi joined AFC Wimbledon in 2023.
He was part of the Liverpool Schoolboys side but later moved on to Tranmere Rovers and Swansea City before linking up with Wycombe Wanderers in 2021 after a successful trial period. During his time with the Chairboys he only made 13 appearances and departed on loan to Bromley where he chipped in with three goals and two assists in ten games.
The forward then joined League Two side AFC Wimbledon, signing a two and a half year contract scoring 14 goals in 34 appearances whilst also chipping in with five assists and picking up a Young Player Of The Month award.
The report suggests that the club have officially registered an interest in the player, and sent scouts to to watch him in the goalless draw with Barrow at the weekend.

Al Hamadi is one of the hottest prospects in the EFL right now and seemingly several EFL sides agree. AFC Wimbledon hold the cards however, after securing him to a two and a half year contract less than a year ago meaning that whoever wants to sign him will have to part with a sizeable fee. The League Two side will be hoping for a bidding war in the future to fully maximise their return in what was at the time a risky signing.
