Championship side Swansea City have joined the likes of Wrexham and Toulouse in the race for the signing of a League One attacker.

The Swans finished in a respectable 11th place last season, and as they prepare for this season, they have been linked with a potential big signing.

It would be a deal that sees 21-goal striker Richard Kone, make the step up from League One to the Championship.

Although they aren’t the only team interested in Kone. Other Championship clubs and teams across Europe have been keeping a close eye on him.

Jacob Steinberg shared on X that the Swans have a strong interest in the forward. He also confirmed that Toulouse and Preston have a strong interest, with Union Saint-Gilloise and Wrexham keeping a close eye on the situation.

The interest doesn’t stop there. Celtic have also been linked with a move for the forward, along with Premier League clubs Brentford and Crystal Palace.

The fee Wycombe Wanderers are said to be expecting for the 22-year-old is over £5 million. Although reports previously have suggested it could be nearer £7 million.

Kone’s Statistics Show Why He’s Wanted

Kone was outstanding for Wycombe last season in League One. He scored 21 goals in all competitions, with 18 of those goals coming in the league. It’s no surprise clubs are interested in him, especially given he is still only 22.

His attacking statistics were also eye-catching. He had 2.4 shots per game and one shot on target per game. Kone’s scoring frequency of 153 minutes was the 7th highest in the league.

Where Next for Kone?

The young man is likely to have plenty of options, should he want to leave Wycombe this summer.

Wrexham is an exciting prospect for any player at the moment. They’ve made some impressive signings already and are linked with a move for Conor Coady.

At 22, Kone could be the striker they build their team around for the next five-plus years.

Swansea City are a team back on the up. After years in the Premier League and flirtations with the play-offs that have only ever resulted in midtable, Kone could be the answer they need.

A move into Europe could be tempting to him as well, playing at the highest level and potentially featuring in a European competition.
