Liverpool winger Kaide Gordon is reportedly close to completing a loan deal to join Swansea City, giving the Swans a much-needed boost out wide.

Swansea opened their 2024/25 Championship campaign disappointingly this weekend.

They made the gruelling journey to the northeast to face Middlesbrough, where an early penalty from Emmanuel Latte Lath sealed three points for the home side in a 1-0 victory.

Swansea struggled massively in the early parts of the game, particularly with the lack of creativity in wide options due to their current lack of options.

They may be receiving a much-needed boost in this area soon, with a Liverpool starlet set to make the move to South Wales for this season.

Gordon to the Swans?

According to Fabrizio Romano, Swansea City are close to completing a deal to sign Liverpool winger Kaide Gordon on a season-long loan deal.

Swansea’s injury issues have meant that they are currently without a lot of their winger options, with centre midfielder Azeem Abdulai playing down the left wing in their season opener.

Who is Kaide Gordon?

Gordon was first signed by Liverpool after he impressed during his time at Derby County, making his debut at just 16 years old for the Rams.

Since his move to Anfield, Gordon has enjoyed a lot of success in the Liverpool academy setup, constantly playing at a good level in different age groups.

His performances have also meant he has made the occasional substitute appearance for the first team in both the Premier League and other cup competitions.

What will he bring to Swansea?

He brings a profile that Swansea are desperate for, a quick winger who can cut in and provide an attacking threat in wider areas.

With the Swans not even mustering up a shot on target in their opening game, it was clear to most fans that this was because there was no help from the midfield areas to create chances for the two strikers on the pitch.

If Swansea do get this deal over the line, they will get a very talented footballer who has huge potential to succeed at this level.

He may not perform at his best from the get-go, but once he settles into the competitive nature of the level, he will certainly be a useful asset for Luke Williams to have in his squad for the rest of the season.
