Swansea City Stance On League One Star Confirmed

Swansea City’s director of football has confirmed the Championship side won’t be pursing a deal to try and sign Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon this summer.

The Swans had reportedly had an initial bid for the midfielder turned down last month, beginning speculation that Erhahon could be swapping Lincolnshire for South Wales.

However, this speculation has now been addressed directly by Swansea City’s Director of Football, delivering news that will come as a huge positive for one side more than the other.

Swansea cool Erhahon pursuit

As confirmed via an interview with BBC Sport Wales, Swansea City’s Director of Football (Richard Montague) has confirmed there is ‘nothing concrete’ in terms of the reports linking Erhahon with a move to the Championship side.

The 24-year-old has been an integral part of Michael Skubala’s setup at Sincil Bank since his arrival from St. Mirren, but could be set to depart the League One side this summer.

It is unclear as to the price tag that Lincoln City would want but we now know that Swansea City won’t be pursuing that deal.

Speaking in full, Montague revealed regarding the Erhahon links:

We have talked about so many players and quite a lot have got to the point where we have spoken to agents or clubs. There isn’t anything concrete in that one.”

He did however confirm that Swansea have had ‘good conversations’ regarding the possible loan return of Lewis O’Brien.

How did he fare last season?

Erhahon’s 2024/25 season was the very definition of a ‘pick up where you left off’ kind of season, as he continued to become a standout player in League One.

The Scotsman registered 36 appearances for the Imps last season, proving an assist during a 4-2 victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Though on paper, Erhahon made fewer appearances and scored fewer goals, his individual performances stood out despite a disappointing end to the season, finishing 17 points outside of the play-off places.

The search to replace Matt Grimes continues

During the January transfer window, Swansea bid farewell to experienced midfielder Matt Grimes as he made the seven-figure switch to play-off semi-finalists Coventry City.

Grimes was initially replaced by Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien on loan for the remainder of the season but he’s now gone back and a gap is still left in the middle of the park.

Erhahon is a very similar style of midfielder to Grimes and had the rumour been true, it would have been a like-for-like replacement but we now know this won’t be the case.

Lincoln can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Erhahon won’t be leaving the club any time soon, but excitement can now be built for Swansea knowing that is an area the club are desperate to strengthen this summer.
