Swindon Town have signed defenders Pharrell Johnson and Conor McCarthy on a permanent deal and loan deal, as confirmed on the club website
19-year-old Johnson joins on a permanent transfer from Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest whilst 25-year-old Conor McCarthy joins on a loan from Barnsley for the rest of the season.
Pharrell Johnson joins having previous experience in the Under-18’s and Under-21’s before linking up with Gavin Gunning’s Robins for his first shot at the men’s game. He has played two games, both being in the Bristol Street Motors trophy playing Harrogate Town and Carlisle United, The youngster has also been a regular in both Forest’s U18s and U21s teams, featuring 17 times in the U18 Premier League during a campaign which saw them finish 4th in their first season as a category one academy.
On the other hand, Conor McCarthy joins with a wealth of experience at Irish side Cork City as well as Scottish side St Mirren where he played a combined number of 169 games in Ireland winning the Irish Cup and Irish League Both with Cork City. He has also featured in the Under-18’s and Under-21’s for the Republic Of Ireland.
They both join Swindon in League Two who have been struggling to find form recently with two wins out of 23 games, They currently sit 15th with 34 points, They have not won in three games.
Upon the announcement of the transfer, Johnson said this
”Ever since I came here this morning, I’ve felt welcomed by all the staff,players. I watched training this morning cant wait to get going in training tommorow”
McCarthy has not spoken to the club’s media since signing

Gavin Gunning and Jamie Russell have acted quickly and well in the past few days, following a series of exits.
Swindon Town have been lacking squad depth and that is exactly what they’ve got from these two and I am excited to see how they get on for the remainder of the campaign.
