Swindon Town have placed former Bradford City manager Derek Adams in the frame for their managerial job ahead of the 2024/25 League Two season, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
The former Bradford City manager is reportedly in the frame to become the next manager of the League Two side, with interim boss Gavin Gunning set to miss out on landing the job on a permanent deal.
A fresh face
Swindon Town have had their fair share of managers over the last few seasons, with the likes of Michael Flynn, Scott Lindsay and Jody Morris all taking on the role in an attempt to push the football club towards a potential return to League One.
However, none of these have succeeded thus far with Swindon Town suffering a devastating 19th-placed finish in League Two for the 2023/24 season, 16 points behind the play-off places.
League Two promotion experience
Derek Adams is set to be the next man tasked with ensuring an improvement of on-field results for Swindon Town for the 2024/25 campaign and brings with him promotion experience as he helped Morecambe to secure a shock promotion to League One before leaving for Bradford City.
The 48-year-old has been out of work since February 2024 after his departure from SPFL side Ross County was confirmed, winning just two of his 12 matches in charge.
However, Adams has his fair share of EFL experience having managed the likes of Morecambe, Bradford City and Plymouth Argyle and taking charge of over 400 matches in English football.
A boost for the summer
Derek Adams is a manager who brings with him a promising reputation when it comes to recruiting players and that could prove to be a major boost for Swindon Town heading into the summer transfer window.
After losing loanees Dan Kemp and Jake Young in January, their replacements in Dawson Devoy, Paul Glatzel and Aaron Drinan have all added goals for Swindon despite their unfortunate drop down the table.
However, employing a manager like Derek Adams could give them a major boost when competing for certain individuals this summer.
