Scottish Premiership side Dundee United are targeting a move for Wrexham’s Sam Dalby, with the close of the transfer window fast approaching.
The Dragons have adjusted well to life in League One, seeing off the likes of third-division regulars Wycombe Wanderers in their opening games as they remain unbeaten in their opening three games.
Their first true test will be put in front of them tomorrow as they travel to take on Peterborough United, a side expected to be competing for promotion alongside Phil Parkinson’s side this season.
While Wrexham prepare for the close of the window, talk of another striker at the Racecourse has been heavily rumoured with no moves coming to fruition. Scottish Premiership side are preparing for the loss of Rory MacLeod, who is wanted by Premier League side Southampton, and their sights have turned to the Racecourse for a striker.
Forgotten man linked with Wrexham exit.
According to the Courier, Sam Dalby is set to be offered a lifeline by the Scottish top-flight side, who are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of an exit for Rory MacLeod. The side’s youngest-ever debutant is reportedly on the verge of a loan move to Southampton this season after having completed a fortnight trial period on the South Coast.
Dalby has fallen down the pecking order in Parkinson’s side since their return to the EFL and looks to be headed out the door if this interest is to trend the way it appears.
A wise move for Wrexham forward?
The 24-year-old still has plenty of time left in his career at his age and a move to a side like Dundee could be an option to get back on track and scoring goals. Having joined in August 2022, the forward was a regular in their National League campaign but has not been able to break into the side these past two seasons.
It is unclear whether or not the forward will head out on a permanent or a temporary switch, but his time in the EFL shows he needs game time that he will not get as a member of Phil Parkinson’s side. He has shown goalscoring form in the past for the likes of Southend United in the National League, meaning he could just need the right move to regain some confidence after a lack of playing time.
