Tottenham Hotspur Begin Talks With Brentford Manager

Tottenham Hotspur

After weeks of rumours, Tottenham Hotspur have finally opened talks with Brentford manager Thomas Frank, as they look to make the Dane their new manager.

Spurs shocked a lot of the football world in recent weeks, as they decided to sack manager Ange Postecoglou after just two seasons in charge.

The Aussie led Spurs to their first trophy since 2008 with their Europa League triumph over Manchester United, coincidentally qualifying them for Champions League football next season.

However, a 17th-placed finish in the Premier League was the defining factor in the board’s decision, and now a London rival could lose their manager to the North London giants.

Frank In Talks With Spurs?

According to Sky Sports Lyall, Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with Brentford about making Thomas Frank their new manager.

Frank has been Brentford’s manager since 2018, and has led them to not only promotion to the Premier League, but also a top-ten finish in the top-flight.

Spurs have a big season in both the Premier League and the Champions League next season, and they believe Frank is the man to guide them to success.

The Right Man for the Job?

Thomas Frank has proven that he is a more than capable manager in the Premier League, but making a jump to Champions League football is a massive step for any manager.

Spurs are a club with big ambitions, and as the sacking of Ange has proven, they also do not have a lot of patience with managers if the results are not there.

It will be a monumental task for Frank to help guide Spurs back up the table next season, but there are not many better options as far as proven Premier League managers go, that would be attainable for the club.

Potential to Bring Players Along?

Brentford’s ‘Moneyball’ recruitment system has seen them sign a lot of gems for cheap fees in recent years, but their success makes them susceptible to interest from bigger clubs.

Bryan Mbuemo has been heavily linked with a move away from Brentford this summer, and following his manager to North London could be a great move for his career.

Players such as Nathan Collins and Yoanne Wissa could also be of interest to Spurs, with the potential to dismantle a London rival’s side in just one summer transfer window.
