Tottenham Hotspurs Confident About Deal For Manchester City Man

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘quietly confident’ about completing a deal for Savinho, according to reports.

Spurs want to sign a replacement for Heung-Min Son, after missing out on Eberechi Eze during the week, who signed for fierce rivals Arsenal.

Spurs Confident They Can Complete Signing Of Savinho

According to TBR Football, Spurs are said to be ‘quietly confident’ about completing a deal for Manchester City winger, Savinho.

This comes after talks between the two clubs, following their game against each other on Saturday.

It was a tactical masterclass from Thomas Frank as Spurs beat City two-nil at the Etihad.

A deal for Savinho would be a permanent one. Manchester City are holding out for at least £70 million. The 21-year-old has only been at the Etihad for a year.

Pep Guardiola wants to keep the winger; however, Manchester City are open to selling at the right price.

How Did He Fare Last Season for Manchester City?

Savinho scored three and assisted eleven in 48 appearances across all competitions last season. This was a decent output for the then 20-year-old in his first season in the Premier League.

The Brazilian started in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace. However, City were unfortunately beaten one-nil. This was Pep Guardiola’s first trophy-less season since 2016/2017, his first in Manchester.

Savinho is currently sidelined with a minor knock. As a result, the winger has failed to make an appearance so far this season.

The Citizens thrashed Wolves four-nil on the opening day before losing to Spurs on Saturday in a disappointing defeat.

Is This A Good Move For Savinho And Spurs?

With the World Cup coming up next year, Savinho wants to be starting week in, week out. This gives him the best chance of being selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad.

After the departure of Heung Min Son, Tottenham have Savinho as their number one target at left wing.

With both parties keen on the move, this would be a good deal. Savinho will get consistent game time, and Spurs will get a young, electric winger who has lots of potential to grow.

After the transfer of Eberechi Eze fell through earlier in the week, Daniel Levy is under pressure to deliver new signings before the September deadline next Monday. This means a deal is more likely to be struck in the coming week.
