Wealdstone have announced the departure of playmaker Tarryn Allarakhia following the expiry of his contract at the National League side, as confirmed via a social media post from the club’s official Twitter.
The 26-year-old has opted against signing an improved contract at the Stones and will now seek pastures new for the 2024/25 campaign, much to the frustration of Matt Taylor and his side.
How did Allarakhia fair last season for Wealdstone?
The playmaker played an important role for Wealdstone during the 2023/24 campaign, helping them to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy as well as ensuring their survival with a final day victory against Oldham Athletic.
In total, Allarakhia made 38 league appearances for the Stones last season, scoring six goals and providing an additional assist. One of his most crucial goals came during a 4-2 victory against Dorking Wanderers which sent their opponents down whilst lifting the Stones further away from the relegation zone.
Allarakhia also made his international debut for Tanzania during a 2-0 defeat against Egypt in January.
How big of a blow is this for the Stones?
Wealdstone have already lost the likes of Marcus Dewhurst, Dillon De Silva and Nathan Ferguson following the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, with Allarakhia being yet another key player to opt against staying with the football club next season.
Fellow playmaker Max Kretszachmar has signed a new deal whilst Micah Obiero has had his one-year option triggered which does boost Wealdstone’s attacking options, but losing Allarakhia will add a further player requirement onto Matt Taylor’s transfer shortlist this summer.
What’s next for Allarakhia?
With League Two side Notts County being managed by former Stones boss Stuart Maynard, Allarakhia could be of interest to the club as a way of bolstering their attacking options alongside the likes of Jodi Jones and Dan Crowley.
Similarly, there are several sides local to Wealdstone which could be of interest to the 26-year-old if he wants to remain in the area. For example, AFC Wimbledon, Sutton United or newly-promoted Bromley could all of interest this summer.
