Wealdstone have completed the signing of MK Dons defender Brooklyn Ilunga on a short-term loan deal, as confirmed via a statement on the club’s website.
The full-back returns to the National League side after his previous spell was cut short due to injury last season and joins ahead of Saturday’s clash with Barnet.
The 19-year-old has made seven appearances in all competitions for Mike Williamson’s side so far this season but is yet to contribute to a goal for the League Two side and has now moved back out on loan in search of regular game time.
Ilunga is a product of the MK Dons youth setup and has enjoyed loan spells at the likes of Royston Town, Hemel Hempstead as well as Wealdstone. He made 13 appearances for the Stones last season, helping the club to sit just outside of the play-off places before an off-the-ball injury cost him his spot at the football club.
After averaging a goal contribution almost every other game for Wealdstone, news of his return will be a major boost for the club ahead of a difficult ‘derby day’ clash against Barnet who have slipped out-of-form and have lost ground on league leaders Chesterfield.
Going into Saturday’s clash, Wealdstone sit 16th in the National League with three defeats in their last six league matches, but a victory could see the club climb to as high as 13th and back to within touching distance of the play-off places once again.

Ilunga is a highly-rated young player who shone for Wealdstone last season and I believe this is an excellent addition for Stuart Maynard’s side.
Wealdstone face a difficult fixture against Barnet, knowing the Bees will be desperate to bounce back after a heavy defeat against Oldham Athletic in mid-week but the addition of Ilunga at the back could provide a huge morale boost for the National League side.
