West Bromwich Albion have managed to fend off huge interest from QPR to land the signing of defender Gianluca Frabotta from Juventus.
West Brom have had a less-than-ideal start to their transfer window ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
The Baggies have seen plenty of important players from last season leave, mainly due to the club trying to comply with the PSR financial regulations.
Players such as Brandon Thomas-Asante, Conor Townsend, and Okay Yokuslu have already departed the club as they look to raise much-needed funds after a year of financial issues.
However, the optimism around the club is on the rise. Their loan signing of Lewis Dobbin was paired with a fantastic signing of a talented Italian defender.
Baggies Sign Frabotta
West Brom have announced the signing of Juventus defender Gianluca Frabotta on a three-year deal, fending off interest from Championship rivals QPR to land his signature.
The full-back has enjoyed many beneficial loan spells whilst on the books at Juventus, and now after making his permanent move to the Midlands, he will look to finally establish himself as an important player at a new team.
The 25-year-old has been labelled as the Townsend replacement, meaning he has big shoes to fill if he is going to be an improvement on the departing full-back.
Frabotta has spent the last two seasons in Serie B in the search for game time. He started the 2023/24 campaign with Bari before moving across the Cosenza in the second half of the campaign.
He performed well at both clubs, but his three goals and one assist at Cosenza partnered with some fantastic performances saw him gain a lot of interest, including from his new club.
What will he add to West Bromwich Albion?
Frabotta is a fantastic defensive asset but he is also very impressive when it comes to creating chances down the byline.
After another impressive season at a temporary home, he will look to continue his form but this time at a new permanent residency.
This seems like a great signing for West Brom. They have instantly replaced the departing Townsend and they have replaced him well.
Also, by beating QPR to his signature, it means that they have potentially weakened another Championship side which will benefit their promotion hopes.
