West Bromwich Albion Submit Second Bid for Championship Rival’s Target

West Bromwich Albion have submitted a second offer for Standard Liege midfielder Issac Price as they look to fend off interest from a Championship Rival.

With the departures of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Conor Townsend and more importantly Okay Yokuslu seeming imminent, West Brom are finally looking to make some additions to their Championship squad for next season.

With their midfield options seemingly becoming weaker every week, manager Carlos Corberban will be desperate to change that, particularly in the centre midfield role.

After their first bid for the young star was knocked back, they are hoping that their second bid will be enough to convince the player to make the move to the Hawthorns.

However, they will have to fend off other Championship interest in order to land his signature.

West Brom or Preston for Price?

According to reports, West Brom have submitted a second bid of around €2 million for Standard Liege midfielder Issac Price, as they look to fend off interest from Championship rivals Preston North End.

The 20-year-old moved to Belgium at the start of last season after making his professional debut for Premier League side Everton in the season prior.

In his first full season of first-team football, he managed to make 28 appearances, scoring once and assisting twice for Standard Liege.

His solid first professional season has caught Corberan’s eye, as he is looking to find new talent for the role that Yokuslu played for his side last season.

He is also a fully-fledged international after he made his Northern Ireland debut in the EURO 2024 qualifiers. A fantastic achievement for a player at just 20 years of age to represent his country on the big stage.

It is understood that West Brom will need to match Liege’s valuation if they want to sign Price, with the Belgian side standing firm to get the amount that they want and are under no pressure to sell for any less.

If West Brom do decide to match the valuation, they will still need to convince the player that they are a better option for him than Preston.

However, with ambitions of Playoffs and a very good manager in Corberan, it will likely be the right destination for Price as he looks to continue his development back in England.
